Thin-lens equation
1/f = 1/dₒ + 1/dᵢ
m = −dᵢ/dₒ
1/f = 4 m⁻¹
1/dₒ = 1.6667 m⁻¹
1/dᵢ = 2.3333 m⁻¹

Interpretation
A positive image distance places a real image on the opposite side of the lens; a negative image distance places a virtual image on the object side. The sign of magnification indicates orientation, while its magnitude gives the image-size ratio.
